Happy B-day Daddy-Kins!

This time next week, my daddy would have been born 52 years ago. Yay him! I love my daddy and that is why I am determined to find him the most perfect b-day gift out there. Now, this is no easy feat! Last year, I gave him a Lacoste Polo Set, which he claimed he loved- but has yet to wear. Ouch, daddy! Wear my polos!!! Anyway, I've been able to narrow the gift options to two great accessories that in my opinion every man needs!

How cute is this Clark's shoe! And surprisingly, it's relatively cheap! About $90- most definitely in the budget. Besides being very fashionable, it's functional- which means the world to him.

Does Cole Haan make these gloves for Women too?!!? I want them so bad! They're beautifully created. They'll also be a great asset in New York, because here, as elsewhere, winter isn't so pretty. BUT is $150 a resonable price??? Well, they are for my daddy.....

New York Time's Taming of the Runway

This is possbily one of the best articles that I have EVER read about fashion. Guy Trebay, you are offically my hero. No one article has able to dicuss the mellow death of avant-garde designers and the rebirth of department store chic in such a manner. The article was able to cover the lachrymose emotion running through Gareth Pugh and Ann Slowely. Yet, it added a touch of beuty to the new world of chic. I knew the New York Times Thursday Styles section was good, but I never expected that good. Once again, here's to you Guy Trebay!

Built by Wendy Sample Sale This Upcoming Weekend!!

It's that time of year again! The temperature is dropping, the leaves are falling and so are the prices at Built by Wendy! This weekend in Williamsburg, Wendy Mullins's Built by Wendy line will have their annual fall Sample Sale with very few items over $100. People, this is a deal that NEEDS to be taken advantage of! Built by Wendy's simple-yet-edgy style isn't one that fills the street. Many of her pieces have details that other designers wouldn't think about adding into thier garmets. So, be there this weekend, cuz I will!

Inside the Tents of Fashion Week

Fashion Week is the Christmas for fashionistas, the mecca for those who breathe style. Last year, I was given the oppurtunity to visit the tents first-hand to view the Academy of Art fashion show and I was blown away! For a school that admits anyone and everyone interested in the arts, their graduate designers all possesed the aura of Central Saint Martin's alumni. This same oppurnity arose and I jumped at the chance of going again. For some reason, my second time going was much more memorable than the first. The Academy's show was also better the second time around. Designers Richelle Vanlenzuela, Jie Pan, and Sawanya Jomthepmala were the ones to keep an eye out for in the near future. In the mere four to six pieces, I was able to tell whose name you'd see on the Barney's in a few years. Richelle Valenzuela's gem-inspired collection's featured blue and gray silk organzas and intricate folds and pleats to complement the color story. Jie Pan combined a mess of different types of fabric with silk jersey to create stunning dresses that every girl would want for a night out on the town. Sawanya Jomthepmala used the 40's and 50's to isnpire her silhouettes and mosaics to inpsire her print. The result: a collection that needs to be in my closet and in Blake Lively's closet, as well. Jomthepmala's collection reminded me very much so of Preen's Fall 2009 look. She suceeded in taking Bombastic colors, such as neon pink and neon green and making them effortlessly chic. All in all, I'm left flabbergasted and why on earth does the Academy of the Art not having an online shop?!

Pixie Market: Fairytale or Dream Come True??

There comes a time in all our lives when we find ourselves suddenly engrossed in an entity and we are unable to escape its force. Well, for me, normally this entity comes in the form of a store and I would not call it me being “engrossed” by said store- I’m just plain obsessed. The name of the store is Pixie Market and it possesses my soul. It gets pretty bad…I subconsciously enter the store’s website and rummage through web pages that I have already memorized beforehand. My online shopping cart equals about $6,300. What Can I Say?!?!?! Pixie Market, with its 80’s revive feel, just brings me back to my child hood memories of yearning to growing up to be Madonna. Besides being the one-stop shop for avant-garde garments, it also caters to those who want the edge in their wardrobe, but are not a fan of the bombastic ensemble with its tailored skirts and pant-suits. If I was a performer, I would live in Pixie Market. But then again, I’m not; I’m just some crazy kid who has a fetish for sequins and longs to Gwen Stefani (or Debby Harry).

What I NEED to have:

Next Time: Zachary's Smile, FIT inspiration, and Adventures through Ebay!!
Stay sweet on the street.

The weather is warmer.

As the weather increasingly gets warm - and the snowflakes subside from New York, the sunshine begins to peak through the shades and colors of the normal sights of winter gray. I have always been a fan of wearing "too much" black. (For I believe that you can never go overboard when wearing black) However for this spring season - I will be attempting to mix up my color palette and fuse into my wardrobe the pastel colors that spring fashion has to offer. I have become a huge fan of cropped tee's for the spring fashion. That and destroyed denim shorts. Pair a cropped tee with a pair of said shorts, match it with a pair or strappy leather heels and you've found a match made in heaven! Here are some of my spring favorites:

Items in order:
Dress: Alexander Wang, Over sized cutout sweater: Alexander Wang, Destroyed Levi's: Urban Outfitters, Tank: Urban Outfitters, Strappy Heels: Jeffrey Campbell, Cropped Tee: Topshop, Cropped Tee: Topshop, Blazer: Balenciaga, Oxford flats: Nina Ricci, Scarf: Alexander Mcqueen, Bag: Forever 21, Gladiators: Topshop, Heels: Marc Jacobs

I have become insanely obsessed with oxford flats as of lately, and have been scouring ebay-vintage stores to score some pairs. I am also really into the new Erin Wasson x RVCA collection. What I'm not into: Alexander Mcqueen for Target.

Stay moving fast, my loves!
L.
